Here is some state finals info: the games are being played in Columbus at the Richard Wigh Field, 1550 Whitney CT, Columbus, IN. Field 3 is reserved for us and Columbus to use for warm ups. They have asked that friends and family use the Whitney Ct. parking lot off of Central Ave and that no one park at the elementary school. We will meet at the high school at 8AM. Do not be late!!! We do not want to have to rush a warm up because guys do not show up on time. It says 1 hr 23 minutes, but we need to account for possible construction and the chance of bad weather too.

There will be two games whether we win or lose the first one so come ready to play. Here are directions to the field from the high school:

Good practice this week boys. Big game on saturday; time to get a little redemption for our worst loss of the season. Come out strong, bring our A game and we can take these guys. But we have to come out ready to go from the second the game starts until 5 minutes after it i over. We do that and we will be playing again on Memorial Day.

Be at the field at 10:30 to set up.We kick off at Noon. Invite anyone and everyone you know; lets make sure they know that we have home field advantage here!!!

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

We are playing saturday at Cathedral's home pitch. IT IS NOT AT THEIR SCHOOL. The address they have given me is 300 N Warman; the address on Rugby Indiana is 3045 W Vermont. They have yet to tell me to definitively go with one over the other. They are cross streets so we are probably safe with either. Until further notice lets use 300 N Warman though. It is also the location of Central State- the old mental hospital.

We will be playing after their D1 team plays Bishop Dwenger. It is scheduled for 2pm. We will meet at the school at 11:45 AM to leave no later than noon. THAT DOES NOT MEAN GET THERE AT 12:05 OR CALL AT 12:00 TO SAY THAT YOU ARE ON THE WAY. THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS GENTLEMEN. TAKE IT AT LEAST HALF WAY SERIOUSLY; SERIOUS ENOUGH TO SHOW UP ON TIME. We want to make sure we have enough time to warm up and since we have to drive 45 minutes to an hour we need to leave with plenty of time.

See you at practive tomorrow.-- Coach Travis

One last thing- I am holding a contest. I have a New Zealand rugby jersey that I would like to give away. So whomever sells the most tshirts (the black ones and the Property of ones that I have had forever) will have the choice of winning the jersey of a pair of get of conditioning passes (which we are going to do much more of). Jersey typically cost anywhere from $60- 125 so this is an apportunity to get something pretty cool for just doing a little leg work. Tshirts will be $10/each or if they buy one of each they can pay $15.

3/31/2010

Nice job today boys. Today I feel like I finally saw a lot of the things that have been missing. Rucking picked up after a slow beginning and we won a lot of balls and ourt backline did what they do. What I was most impressed (and very happy with) is how you guys responded when you were down and when you were up. In years past, as soon as the team got down we would fall apart, fall way down, and then get angry and start playing, Sometimes we could pull it out and win; most of the time we would have to be satisfied with a good second half (and a loss). Today we got down and responded with an intensity that we normally do not play with. That is the mark of a good team, gentlemen- how well you respond to adveristy. In the past we let it defeat us; this time we rose above it.

The second mark of a good team is how you respond once you get up. In yesrs past, we would slack off as soon as we got a lead and would lose it falling back into the trap of being behind. This time we kept our collective foot on the gas and put the game out of reach. Excellent, excellent, excellent job!

Now the trick is what we do from here. Enjoy the win guys; have great time over the break. BUT be ready to come back and hit it hard. We have one practice before we play a very good Zionsville team. We need to get the rust out on tuesday so we can be ready to play a very good team on wednesday.

That being said, we NEED EVERYBODY for that game at Zionsville, They have two full squads and want to play two full games, This is a great chance for everyone to get more than enough playing time in against a quality opponent. We practive on Tuesday the 13th at 5pm. Be there ready to go. IF you can't make it for whatever reason you need to get in touch with me and let me know. Guys that show get first consideration for playing time, those that contact me second, and those that skip practice (and games) last. Most of the time guys that skip practice/games will play little if at all. You should do what you can to make practice, but if you can't you MUST get in contact with me- that is, if you want to play. Anyone that does not will be treated as if they skipped.

Also, guys that have not completed the online tutorial- IRB Rugby Ready - with the exception of Dillon since he just joined, will be in the back of the line for playig time. Guys, I posted that requirement on 10/29 and then told you all about at the Call Out Meeting over two months ago. There really is no excuse for not having it done; if you are really struggling with it you need to get witha  teammate that has completed it and ask for help. With as much time as you have all had there is no excuse for not getting this done.

Finally, those interested in gettin together next week to throw the ball around (we will basically scrimmage by playing touch) we are going to meet on Tuesday at 5pm. If you are out of town, no big deal; if you are in town and do not want to, you suck, but no big deal, if you are in town and want to- great.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

Nice win on wednesday boys. Regardless of how good or bad the oppoenent was, to win like that is somthing that you can't help but enjoy. Congratulations!!!

Now Carrol will not be bearly as easy. You better come with your heads on straigth ready to get it done. Be at the school at 9:45; we will roll out shortly afterwards. If your late, I hope you know where you are going. If you skip then you suck.

Keep up the good work with the flower fundraiser. From what I hear there are some girls and boys that are really kicking butt with this.

Boys, you must turn the spirit wear forms in next week. Do not sit on this or wait to get it done; it is already last minute so no lolly-gagging.

3/02/2010

Nash Bash is right round the corner folks. Some of you have yet to register- GET IT DONE!!! Also, everybody needs to pay as much of their dues as possible ASAP. Most of out dues go to Nash Bash so we have to have them in.

For Nash Bash, we will leave on Friday, 3/12. The exact time will be discussed this wekk and we will let the kids know at practice. Parents that are interested in going and need a room contact the Girls coach, Brent McCurdy at brentmccurdy@hotmail.com. We have a block of rooms reserved for the players and parents so let him know ASAP. We will stay the night friday, play saturday, stay the night, play sunday, and them come home. Dinner will be provided on Saturday, but otherwise the kids are on their own in regards to food. There will also be a Rugby clothing vendor set up; rookies shouild try to purchase a pair of rugby shorts there.

All players need to print and sign the Vanderbilt waiver and turn it into your coach ASAP.

Not much practice left folks. Make sure you do what you can to get to pracice so we can all put our best foot forward in Nashville.

Till the nex ruck,

Coach Travis

2/26/2010

The Vanderbilt Waiver is now available to download and print. If you are planning on going to Nash Bash this year you must print this out and turn it into your coaches ASAP. Do not wait till we are leaving to get this done; take care of it now.

All players need to be registered by Sunday at the latest. If you register after Sunday you will be charges a $10 late penalty by Rugby Indiana.

Take care of business and get out to practice folks. Neither team practices a lot so players should be making every effort to make every practice. We can't get better as a team if the team does not show.

2/20/2010

Pretty decent job today guys. Like I said at the Colts place, a lot of the holes were things that we have not been able to practice much (although I do expect to see more from the veterans). That being said, for us to get up to speed guys need to show up when we have practice. IF you are ever not sure, DO NOT just trust what you hear from someone. Check the website; if practice is cancelled it will be posted.

We are going to see a level of play very close to what we saw in the second period for most of the season. Actually, I think we play those same guys later this year. We were on the defenseive too much than; for our offense to get it together we have to practice together and be more aggressive. With the exception of the last period, the passing was not real good and there were way too many cases where guys ran across two, three, or even four lanes. All you succedd in doing is getting yourself really tired,l losing the ball most of the time since you just confused your teammates about what your doing, and breaking down the team concept that we are tryign to build. That last period looked so good because we were running against a true B side team, we won a few rucks, and the backs stayed within their lanes and shared the ball (ALL OF THEM). That will be how we will win against anyone we come up against.

There was one guy that should have played more today, but otherwise the playing time was right in line with attendance. If you thinn you were cheated, come talk to me and we'll clear things up.

We need everyone to keep coming out. We had 30+ today. Some of the teams we are scheduled to play will have full B sides; for other games we can get another opponent scheduled in order to give everyone sufficient playing time. But before I take the time and effort to schedule more games I will need to see a better commitment at practice.

Make sure you are registered and get your dues paid ASAP. Also, everyone must finish that Online tutorial ASAP. Practice this week is Tuesday at 5 and Thursday at 6.

Till the Next Ruck.

Coach Travis

2/18/2010

Boys, you must be registered to play Sunday; you also must print and fill out the waiver form. Failure to do both of these will mean you do not play; you also beed to complete the tutorial as well. Be at the Colt's Facility (7001 West 56th Street - Indianapolis, IN 46254) no later than 10:30 Sunday morning. I would suggest leaving early to make sure you get there; guys get lost every year.

Here are the registration and tutorial links:

http://www.rugbyindiana.com/registration.html

IRB Rugby Ready

For anyone that may have trouble with the dues there is a link to a scholarship on the same page as the registration link. Do not leet money keep you from playing; then again if money is your excuse than you probably do not have what it takesto play the game anyway. Rugby players work through issues instead if letting them be excuses for failure.

2/16/2010

Boys, we only have one hour of practice for wednesday so be there early and stretched before 6pm. At 6pm we need to really hit the ground running in order for guys to be ready for Sunday.

Sunday we will be playing at the Colts Practice Facility. The address is 7001 West 56th Street - Indianapolis, IN 46254; it is up to you to mapquest it and figure out how to get there. We have a friendly schedule this year; we don't need to be there till 10:30 AM. At that hour there will be absolutely no acceptable excuse for being late.

To play you will have to have three things done: 1.) You must be registered. Right now must of you have not. You were suppose to by last Sunday- GET IT DONE, 2) You must complete the online tutorial and give me the certificate, 3.) YOu must print and fill out the waiver form. You and your parents will have to sign it. ALL THREE ARE A MUST.

Let's get some good work in on wednesday and be ready for action on Sunday.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

2/10/2010

Boys, pretty por attendance at practice last night. With games so close (February 21) it was real important that we have a good practice. The thirteen guys that did show had a great one, but we need more then just them in order to play. I understand that the weather played a factor, but of the 25 that did not show I only heard from two.

I am not sure how to get i across to you guys how important attendace is and letting me know when you can't make it; perhaps I'll skip a couple. This has been an issue with this club since I joined three years ago, and one I am really tired of. If you ever wonder why we are not better than we are, well- that is why.

We will not be practicing on thursday; we have no gym in which tp practice. As of now, we will not practice again until wednesday at 6pm (till 7pm). We do not have a facility for tuesday or thursday. However, if we are able to find one then we will practice. I will post it here if something changes and we are able to practice.

All of you should be registered by this Sunday, February 14th. Only one person has mentioned they may have trouble paying dues so I expect all of you to have it done. Also, before you can play, boys, you must complete the online tutorial and give me the certificate that proves you finished it.

The following are the links for registration and the tutorial:

http://www.rugbyindiana.com/registration.html

IRB Rugby Ready

1/28/10

There will be no practice for the Boys tonight. We will have our first practice on tuesday, 5pm, at the Armory Gym behind the high school. I apoligize for any inconvenience, but sadly with rugby (as most of you know) we have to be flexible sometimes.

Again, no practice for the Boys tonight.

1/28/10

Thanks to all those that made it to the Call Out tonight. For those that did not practice will start on Thursday, 1/29, for both teams at the Armory Gym (behind the school). Chaos will practice from 5-6; Rampage from 6-7. Come ready to get started and be on time.

All players need to get registered with Rugby Indiana ASAP. Dues will be paid directly top them as well; coaches will not be taking any money this year for dues. Follow this link to the Rugby Indiana Registration page and get it done http://www.rugbyindiana.com/registration.html. Dues are $175 and can be paid either online or mailed into Rugby Indiana. This must be done no later than Feb 15. If you played in the fall you will need to do this for the spring as well.

Conditioning is a big part of the game and we have a deal set up with Cardinal Fitness to help us reach our goals. Get with Coach Travis if you are interested so he can pt your name on the list.

Also, if you may have a hard time paying your dues this year there is a scholarship available through Rugby Indiana. Follow the above link and you should see another link that will give you further information.

All Rampage players will be required to take an online course before playing in any spring games.  This will help make sure that every player understands at least the basics of the game covered in the course.  Veterans, this will show you what you don't know that you thought you did and rookies this will help get you up to speed much faster than possible with just practice.  Follow this link and you will get to the home page of the IRB Rugby Ready program.  You will have to print out the certificate at the end to prove you have done it.  If you do not have a computer I suggest you go to the public library or a friend's house in order tog et this done.  You have from now until early March.

Both teams have a lot of potential  this year. Lets get all the administrative stuff done early so we can focus on playing better rugby. All

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

10/29/09

The spring schedule for the Boys is now posted on line.  Get your work schedules set and plan to have your school work done.  There is no excuse for missing a game.  Doing so shows a complete lack of commitment to the team as well as a lack of respect for the guys that are making it to every practice and game.  If you plan on skipping games don't waste my time, your teammates' time, or your own by coming out.  Those that can not show up simply will not play when they do.

Everyone will have to register for the spring season even if you did in the fall.  The system will be available to do so very soon.  It is very important that you all get registered as soon as you can once it opens up.

Guys, we have the potential to have a tremendous season but there must be a better commitment from everyone.  We cannot get better and be the winning team that I hope we all want to be with the commitment that was shown by many of you in the fall.  I know some of you will say that it was only the fall and it doesn't matter.  You are wrong.  I will play those that show the commitment necessary to be great.  Those that think showing up is all they have to do will be disappointed with their  playing time.

There will be plenty of rugby for those that want it.  Only those that earn it will get it.

Directions for the Halloween game at Lawrence are as follows: 4510 N Richardt Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46226-3845 E465 to 56th st. go east on 56th to east end of Lawrence Central, turn rt on Richardt, once you cross over 46th street field on right side 1/4 mile down.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

9/30/09

For those that showed up to practice- thank you. I appreciate it and I'm sure your other teammates do as well.  It takes all of us working together for the team to get any better.  One guy showed up with the flu and another that just had oral surgery.  Now I sent the man with the flu home (no sense in staying out and getting worse), but he had the dedication, commitment, and respect to the team to make sure that everyone knew that his heart was in it even though his body was saying not now.

Gentlemen, I am tired of preaching, complaining, pleading- whatever you want to call it.  If you cannot commit to something as simple as this that really does not take much time then you will have bigger problems later in life.  If Guitar Hero and "other" alternative pursuits are more important then this game is not for you.  You don't practice, you don't play.  You don't show up to the games and you will continue to be benched.  We can be champions, but you have to do a lot more than just show up on game day.

Practice is at 5pm now.  If you have not paid your dues do so immediately or see me.  Failure to do so will also means you will not play.  The team needs funds in order to operate.

9/24/09

Pretty good effort today guys.  We were on the attack quite a bit today.  The rain made it hard to catch and hold onto the ball a lot, but we were often able to win back the ball after penalties anyway.  Once again I think there was a lot of really good pay out there today.  I am proud of all of you.

That being said, we still lost the game.  We came out timid, slow, and sloppy and allowed them to score 15 quick points; for all the offense we had we only scored 5.  Penalties killed us.  The conditions caused some knock ons, but so did bad passes, not paying attention, and well- bad hands.  Lots of guys were leaving there feet in the rucks; another big no-no that we have talked about in practice.  Surprisingly there were not too many offsides calls, but there should not be any.

All these things can be corrected with practice gentlemen.  The people that did not get any better are the ones that have not been at practice.  This team could do a whole lot this year, but the dedication and commitment need to improve.  No man is the team, but the team needs every man.  So get out to practice!

The next game will be next saturday (10/03); kickoff will be at 11:00; you need to be there by 9:45- NOT A MINUTE LATER.  Anyway that has not registered and paid there dues (or discussed them with me) will not play.  SO if you are having issues with paying the 60 you must talk to me this week.  Also, the team I play for is having a game that day as well at the River Road pitch.  I highly suggest that you go out and watch after our game.

One last thing- Fish is no longer Fish. He is now Shark Bait. Oohh Ha Ha.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

9/16/09

Gentlemen- I have to say that I was very pleased with the intensity and effort today.  There were times we looked very good.  And of course there were times we did not, but this was the first time that many of you ever played and I expected that.  The key thing is that everyone got better as the day progressed.  As long as you make forward progress in whatever you do then the day was a success regardless of the score.

The important thing now is that none of you became complacent or satisfied.  Everyone needs to continue to come out to practice and work to get yourself better and the team.  I will do my best to help you improve, but my effort will mean nothing if yours is not there.

Two more things. Those of you that are not registered need to get registered ASAP.  There are 21 guys that did the process completely right.  If you are unclear find one of them and get help.  If you are unable to do so then make sure you talk to me on Tuesday.  You will not play again until that is done.  If you only paid $30 you need to make arrangements with me concerning the remaining $30 before the next game as well.

Finally, I can not stress how important it is to keep your cool at all times.  I know I don't always set the best example and for that I apologize, but my faults do not excuse yours.  The other guy is no excuse.  All that does is hurt the team either through penalty or as a morale killer.  No man is bigger than the team and the team does not need any one man so learn to control yourself at all times.

Take every chance you can to learn.  This Saturday is the Irish Fest Tournament.  There will be a lot of college rugby and at least one Men's Club game played as well.  If you want to see what the game can look like or want to see how a position is meant to be played then do what you can to make it out and watch.  The address is 3045 W. Vermont Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222.  The field is adjacent to the LaRue Carter Mental Health Facility.  Games will start in the morning and go for most of the day.  The Men's Club game is scheduled to kick off at 2pm.

Things are looking up guys.  I expect there to be intense competition for every position on the field this year.  Come to practice Tuesday; we play Hamilton County on Thursday.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

9/10/09

Small change to the instructions in the previous post.  You can pay the full $60 when you register online.  If you can not for whatever reason, you still must pay at least $30 and make arrangements with me or Brent (for the girls) ASAP.  The team does not require tons of money to operate but it does need some so register and pay your dues as soon as possible.  If paying your dues is going to be difficult, talk to one of your coaches ASAP.

First game for the boys is next Wednesday the 16th at home; kickoff will be at 5pm.  You MUST be there at 3:30 pm.  Plan to be there from the beginning to end- that includes the social end of it as well as cleaning up the field.  Remember- you must have registered and paid at least $30 in order to play.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

9/3/09

Another great turnout at practice gentlemen! 25 players!  I have to say that this is the most encouraged I have been about this club since I joined.  With the numbers we have at practice now the things we can do in practice  are endless.  The more we can do in practice, the more we can learn, and the better prepared we can be on game day.

Lots of veterans have yet to show up.  We will not wait on you and there are no positions on hold.  You don't practice, you don't play.  Just showing up in the spring will not cut it with the numbers we are getting; positions are earned now.  If you are involved in another sport/ activity that keeps you from being able to show then you need to contact me- not you telling someone and trusting that I hear about it; YOU need to contact me.

Call Out meeting will be next Tuesday.  I will post the exact time and location as soon as it is confirmed.  Check back within the next couple days.

Boys, your dues for the fall will be $60.  You must pay $30 when you register online with the Indiana Youth Rugby Foundation.  They will take care of the CIPP which makes you legal to play as well as our refs.  To register go to the Links page of this website; click on the Indiana Youth Rugby Foundation link.  That will take directly to the registration page.  From there follow the directions on the page.  Somewhere during the process you will need to pay $30.  That must be done ASAP gentlemen!  The other $30 of your dues can be turned into me at practice.  For those that may need help raising the money, we have tshirts you can sell; all the profit will go to cover your dues (see me for more details).

Our first game is the 16th.  You must register to play; anyone that does not will not play.  You also either need to pay your dues (to IYRF and me)or have discussed an arrangement with me prior to the 16th in order to play.  If you have not paid your dues in full or talked to me before the 16th you will not play.

Let's keep up the good work gentlemen!  See you at practice tuesday!

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

8/12/09

Great turnout at practice wednesday boys!  I was not expecting it at all and was very glad to see the numbers.  We will be having a busy fall season this year so the numbers are great to see.  Five new guys last wednesday- we need more!  It will be especially good for them to come out now; it is much easier to learn when we are outside rather then in the gym.

There will be a call out meeting soon.  Be checking back to the site and paying attention to announcements.  Even if you are not planning on playing in the fall I would like to see you at the call out meeting.  We have the potential to have a great season this year; regardless of whether you play in the fall, Spring preparation starts now.

For now, wednesday practices will continue; 6 pm at the practice field.  Boys, girls, and all newcomers welcome!

I have already heard a few excuses for guys not coming back.  Gentlemen, there is no excuse; if you don't want to play than fine.  If you want to play then get your behinds out there.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

7/22/09

Alright boys, I hope you have been having a great summer and have been working out trying to get better, faster, stronger for the coming season.  We are loaded with veteran talent and should make a deep run into the playoffs this go-around.

There will be a pretty solid fall season this year.  I am in discussion with several local colleges about playing/ practicing/ scrimmaging.  There will undoubtedly be a Jamboree or two along with games against Hamilton County RFC.

We will also be doing some half time shows for the local semi-pro football team, the Indianapolis Mustangs; the first one being this coming saturday, 7/25.

Wednesday practices are ongoing and will be till the season starts.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

7/7/09

Boys, you have a chance to get some rugby in this week if you want to.  A group of All Stars from Ontario are travelling down here this weekend.  The Indiana team needs some players.

Practice will be at the HSE field tuesday, wednesday, and thursday (7/7-7/9) at 6pm.  You must attend at least two practices to play.  Games will be this saturday (7/11) at 6pm and sunday (7/12) at noon.  The HSE field is at the park off of Brooks School Rd- not the high school!!!

There is no cost to play; they just ask that everyone pitches in for the social after the games.  It is a great chance to play some rugby; I suggest if you are not working, severely injured, or incarcerated that you go play.

Directions for the pitch are as follows: Brooks School Park-11780 Brooks School Road, Fishers, Indiana, 46037. On 116th St. in Fishers, east of I-69. Exit I-69 at Exit 5 and turn East. Continue for about 2 miles to Brooks School Rd. Turn north and look for parking lot on your left.

Regular wednesday practices will resume next week.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

Well those that have actually red this page before will notice something strange.  I apologize folks, but I screwed up and inadvertantly (sp?) erased everything typed this season.  I feel like a real doofus right now.

I am going to rehash in short the last entry I had just finished.

Ladies- you guys are bad*sses.  I look forward to seeing you guys destroy HSE this wednesday!  I would love to go see you kick some rearends in Elkhart Monday, but with a wife ready to give birth at any moment I can't- Good Luck!

Gentlemen- those of you that have been working your butts off and doing what you can to make this team better- thank you.  I look forward to bringing the winning ways back to the Rampage with you.  Those of youn that this applies to know exactly who you are.

Some of you- well, my last email was real eloquent and said things in a nice yet firm way.  The basic point was this- some of you have made it clear you could care less about improving your self or the team; you think your poop smells like roses and that everyone is out to get you- wrong.  You are kids that have a lot to learn, and if you do not open your minds up and start doing it you willl never know how good rugby, school, or even life can be.  Have enough self respect to actually quit instead of just not showing up; but since all some of you wanted to do this season was show up I guess its par for the course.

This summer there will be practice wednesday nights from 6-8.  The first one will be on June 3rd.  This will be mostly touch- a great way to learn better ball handling, setting offensive and defensive lines, teamwork, communication, not to mention a great way to stay/ get in shape.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

Howdy boys and girls!  I'm sure many of you have been wondering and I have to apoligize for not getting things started earlier.  Right now I can not tell you exactly when but we will be getting practice started very soon.  Pay attention to the announcements at school for a date and time for the Call Out Meeting.  In the mean time, you can all get started on the paperwork.  The links are on the Information page; if they do not work they will soon.  When you have them finished either print them to turn in to Coach or email them to the team email.

The CIPP expires at the end of his month so those need to be done asap.  The link will take you directly to the USA Rugby CIPP page; do your best and try to get it done.

Their are changes to the rules this year.  We will eventually cover them at practice, but it never hurts to get started early- you an find them at Full ELV guide (PDF)>>.

I'm excited.  I think we stared to show a lot of promise towards the end of the spring season; at times we were down right brilliant.  We are all now a  year older, a year better, and a year wiser.  I am confident we can do great things this year guys!  You just have to want it.

Ladies, I'd say good luck defending your title, but you don't need it.  You guys are a bunch of bad-a**es; if we only had a co-ed league!  A word of caution- everyone will base the success of their season on beating you.  You guys are targets now.

Pay attention.  We will start soon.  If you haven't been working out- start.

Till the next practice,

Coach Travis

6/18/08

I hope everyone is having a great summer. So far there have been a couple guys that have attended thursdays at the Carmel Pitch; I hope to see more of you out there soon.  For those that want to workout over the summer, but are unsure what to do go to www.menshealth.com or www.t-nation.com for some help.  Men's Health has  a lot of different work out ideas for all sorts of conditions and equipment or lack there of. T-Nation has a tremendous wealth of information and will take a bit more to search through if you have the patience.  I have not searched but I am sure www.womenshealth.com will be just as good for the girls.  Good luck, good rucking, and have a great summer!

Looking forward to the Fall,

Coach Travis

This sure ended up being one heck of a year for Noblesville Rugby. Congratulations must once again go to the ladies of Chaos for winning this year's State Championship!!! They were an excellent team to watch, a great example for the inexperienced guys, and a team I am proud to be associated with. keep showing the guys how it's done!

That is not to say the men of Rampage are lacking but is a testament to the level of excellence achieved by the ladies. The men had a good year as well making it into the second round of the playoffs before falling to a tough Cathedral B team.  A lot of changes were weathered by the Rampage this year including a new coach (yet again) as well as a large number of personnel changes.  The team definitely improved as the season went on and look to make a good run at joining the ladies in the winner's circle next year.

Congratulations must go out to a few specific players.  Rampage's very own prop and captain James Peoples was voted the Division II MVP!!! This is an honor voted on by coaches throughout the state. Well done James! Joining James in receiving recognition is first year player Sammir "the Skud Missile" Mjalli. Sam was voted as part of this year's Division II All Star squad. I know you don't believe it Sam, but- yes, you are good and I look forward to seeing what you can do next year.

Not to be outdone by the guys were three members of the Chaos. Junior Lauren Barber, sophomore Kelsey Corbett, and senior Claire Tchoula were all voted to the Girl's All State Team.  Good job in your first year Claire! As she is lost to graduation will certainly open the door for another member of an excellent squad to step up. I'm sure we have yet to see just how well Kelsey and Lauren can do. We'll look forward to seeing them and the rest of the Chaos defend their championship next year.

The fact that these players were recognized does not mean that they were the keys to each team's respective seasons.  Rugby is the quintessential team sport. Without the rest of the squad doing their jobs on the pitch James, Sam, Claire, Lauren, and Kelsey would not have been able to make the plays that earned them recognition. Every player is important to the success of the team. Without support and assistance throughout the games and practice no one is able to achieve excellence. So while congratulations goes out to the recognized players, they owe their success to the hard work of their teammates. So I guess that means congrats to everybody! (okay I know it sounds dorky, but you get he picture)

During the summer you are all welcome to practice with White River Rugby (Coach Brent's and Travis's team). Practice starts at 6, but get there when you can- it does no matter if you are late. Parents, before you think I'm sending your babies out to slaughter, practice will just be playing touch rugby so their will not be any contact (very little at least). So ladies, no reason for you not to go either! (I'm sure Coach Brent would approve) Doing so will help keep you in shape as well as keep your basic skills from getting too rusty. The adults that show are usually more then happy to share their experience, and beating them on the pitch will be a tremendous confidence boost as well!!

Thanks for a great season folks. I hope to see all of you on thursdays and if not...

Till the next ruck in Fall 2008,

Coach Travis

5/20/08

No need to worry about voting anymore guys. With the votes that were emailed the ties were broken in each category that had one. Now its just up to me to make the awards by saturday. For those of you interested, we will have a team social on saturday at 3pm on the pitch. IMPORTANT- people need to volunteer o bring stuff. I'll take care of the dead animal (think I'll just talk to that kid from Angola with the deer on top of his truck.) Others will need to bring soda, chips, snackish stuff, bread, etc. Go to the message board and post what you can bring.

5/18/08

Congratulations to the 2008 State Champion Noblesville Chaos! After some impressive offense in the first half earning 10points, the ladies of Chaos displayed some impressive tenacity, grit, and determination on defense to hold off an attacking group from North Central for a 10-5 win. Much of the second half was spent defending the try line, but some excellent defensive play mixed with some offense was too much for north Central to handle and our Chaos avenged their only loss of the year y winning the one that really matters. Congratulations Champs!

As soon as I know more about  the end of season banquet I will post that information. Ladies, I understand ya'll are or have done your own team function. Guys, we'll talk about that tomorrow. Rampage- follow this link to fill out your ballot for the season awards. You will have to save the document to your computer and then attach it to an email you send to top4209@yahoo.com.

5/12/08

Gentlemen, due to something completely unforceable I will not be able to attend practice tonight. Coach Brent will be their to help keep you guys on track. James and Jason know what I expect and want done.  We have a very tough match up this week.  I'm not ready for the season to end yet and I hope ya'll aren't either.  Set your minds to becoming better ruggers this week and taking Cathedral down.

Coach Travis

5/11/08

Many thanks to those that attended last night's Camping on the Pitch.  Ask any that were there and I'm sure they'll tell you a good time was had by all.  Amazingly their were no serious injuries and maybe just a couple bruised egos.  Special thanks must go out to Kevin and Kelly for providing the fire pits; Dubois I believe brought many of the buns- as well as coach's ice; Cheetah and his many hotdogs; Quad for the animal crackers and all around cuddliness; Tsunami for the comic relief; Sunshine for entertainment value; and if I left anyone else out and their feelings are hurt- I'd say go play for the girls' but they probably would not have you.

Camp MVP must go to the one the only Tsunami. Early in the morning with the rain starting to come down hard he quickly began policing the camp. In no time all the trash was gathered, table down, chairs folded, fire pits taken care of, and he even started taking down and wrapping up other peoples' tents. Way to show the team spirit and willingness to help! if no one said thanks-well, thanks!

Stay tuned for practice info in regards to tomorrow. We'll have to see how the weather holds up.  We do have another game this weekend. Yes, we got a bye for the first round of the playoffs; no game on tuesday. However we do have a very tough opponent in Cathedral B side on saturday. This one will be close to home so travelling should not be an issue. Win and we keep playing; lose and the season is done. time to step it up a notch you didn't know existed boys.  We can beat these boys- you just have to want it.

Glad to be out of the rain and dry,

Coach Travis

5/10/08

Well the stars must have been in alignment with Mercury and Venus in retrograde because the Rampage finnally got back on the right side of the scoreboard with a 20-5 win today.  Congratulations to the group that travelled.  You gentlemen showed what true rugby spirit is today.  I know that as the school year closes there are many time commitments and other things to do, but you stayed true to your team and the commitment you made when you joined the club.  Rugby players want to play he game and do what is necesary to get out on the pitch (except when your sick; I know we've been hit by a nasty virus lately (thanks Tonto) and I appreciate Curly's Mom travelling out to the pitch this morning just to let us know he was sick and could not make it.  I know you wanted to be there Curly- get well cause we'll need you next saturday).  Guys that play rugby make excuses to not play and only want to when it is convenient for them and when the mood strikes them.

In case some of you are confused, there is a huge difference between a rugby player and someone who plays rugby.  A rugby player is a special breed of cat.  He/she is tough, resilient, and dedicated.  A rugby player does not have to be the biggest or fastest player on the field or even the most talented. A rugby player is someone who when they join the team does not do anything to let there teammates down.  They take the commitment seriously and want to play.  They show the desire by doing whatever it takes to be a better player and doing what they can for the team.  Rugby players are the ones that do not care who they play or with whom they play- if they have 14 friends with them they are happy.  They see an ex-football star step on the field and laugh because they know this guy likes pads; he doesn't have what it takes and has no concept of team.  Rugby players are friends you can count on.  In short, rugby players want it and let nothing get in there way of getting it.

Now- guys who play rugby are totally different.  They come to practice when they feel like it.  They get mad if coach takes them out or criticizes them.  They skip practice to play xbox or go to the amusement park.  Road trips make them uncomfortable.  If it rains then they're nowhere to be found.  They think their poo poo smells like roses and that the team needs them.  They believe (although misguided) that they are better then the team and that the team should be glad they are even there.  In short, they make excuses and place blame anywhere but where it belongs.

The 15 that travelled today were rugby players and I am proud to be their coach. One more game to go.

5/7/08

Congratulations on another extremely strong win ladies.  Due to prior commitments I was unable to stay to the finish, but ya'll were well on your way to another dominating victory before I did leave.  You guys are looking great heading into the state tournament.

I took some pictures at today's game, but I would also welcome any submissions anyone has (Rampage as well as Chaos).  We have lots of the guys posted; anyone with pictures from Chaos games that would loke to see them posted to the website you can either email them to noblesvillerugby@hotmail.com or top4209@yahoo.com, pass them along to Brent, or give them to me.  The site is for everybody I just need pictures to post!

Gentlemen- we are travelling for the rest of the season.  This saturday we go to Angola (directions on the directions page). Meet at the practice pitch by 8:30 am. That is OUR practice pitch; not Angola's.  We will leave as soon as we have everyone accounted for.  It is about a three hour trip. Also be talking to your folks about tuesday as well.  The state tournament opens in Columbus on tuesday so we'll need transportation for then as well. Lets already start setting that up as well.

Also- many of you expressed an interest in a team outting/gathering of sorts (besides games and practice).  The notion of camping on the pitch was talked about and the Armory is okay with us doing that. You MUST bring me a note from your folks saying it is okay- I really don't want to have to explain anything to the friendly, neighborhood police officers when they track people down.  You wil also be responsible for your own sleeping arrangements as well as food and drink.  This will be on saturday after returning from Angola.  Right now lets set a tentative time for 7. That means do not go out there any earlier then 7 because their will not be an adult out there till then.  This could be a real fun team social event and i encourage everyone to try to make it.  We've been through a lot this year and have come a long way.  I firmly believe that we may be finnally gelling at the right time.  Starting tuesday everyone is 0-0 and its anyone's game.  We can beat whoever we play, but you have to want it.

I will not be at practice tommorrow, but stand ready to answer any questions anyone may have. If you have not been making practice do not assume you will not play. We need as many to travel this weekend as possible.  Many will have to miss due to school events and more important commitments so we really  need everyone to show that can.  Any questions my number is 752-0918.

Anyone know the whereabouts of Casey Keyler(I'm sure I butchered the last name) from Fishers I believe?

5/6/08

Good work today gentlemen.  Thr drill was starting to come together pretty good and I think the impromptu competition that vocally developed between some of the backs and pack was nice.  Rugby is an aggressive, hard fought game; not for the timid at all.  As long as the talk remains friendly between teammates at practice I'm okay with it. NO SMACK TALK OTHERWISE!!!

Rampage- be out at the pitch when you can tomorrow.  I will try to be there as early as I can (approv 3:30). Doing so is completely optional. let me stress that a little- Getting out to practice early on wednesday is completely OPTIONAL.  The ladies have a match at home tomorrow- kickoff at 5:30.  WE want to use the pitch as much as possible, but we want to be out of there way whenever they need it.  We still have plenty of work to do before saturday's game. Things were starting to look good when running the drill, but when we scrimmaged we reverted back to old form too much. We practice a certain way, gentlemen, because that is how we want to play.  Get out when you can tomorrow so we can continue to improve.

Also- I highly recommend that as many as possible stay and watch/cheer on the ladies after practice.  They have been great to us all season long; running touch, bringing out water, and just suppot in general.  WE NEED TO RETURN THE KINDNESS!!!  This is Noblesville Rugby; we are one club.  Plus- they have been kicking come serious a** all season long.  Call it a hunch, but I think they have been doing quite a few things right.  We can learn a lot by watching them play.

Ladies- good luck, don't get hurt, continue to set a good example for the boys to follow, and kick some a**!!!

This has been a heck of a season boys. Lets finish the regular season right and head into the state tournament on the right note.

May your pack rucketh over,

Coach Travis

5/3/08

Well while the scoreboard was not our friend it sure was nice to walk off the pitch with a good feeling.  If only we had started playing Rampage Rugby when there was more then about 10 minutes left.

One game left in our regular season. We really need everybody out to practice this was to get ready for it and a run at state. The State tournament starts on tuesday after Angola- from there on we win we still play. I don't know about you guys, but I sure as heck do not want the season to end yet.  We are so close to having everything come together.  I really believe that we can make things come together right when it really counts.

You have to want it.

The ladies of Chaos have a real tough match up against Penn.  They have done a great job of supporting the Rampage; lets return the favor and turn out to support them. If you can't, we'll see you Monday at 4:30.

Wishing I could still pass for 18,

Coach Travis

5/1/08

The stars must have been in some sort of crazy alignment on wednesday.  The Rampage fell to a very tough HSE team and the ladies of Chaos were scored on for the first time and sufferend their first defeat.  Both teams fought hard, but came up on her wrong side of the scoreboard.

The gentlemen will look to get back on the rightside of the scoreboard against Lawrence on saturday.  It will be our last home game of the season so lets look to close out our home schedule on top.  We will need everyone there ready to go at 11:30.  Lawrence has been beating teams that gave us all kinds of trouble. We'll have to be better then ever to come out on top.

I has been a tough season with lots of growing pains.  There has been improvement in many areas all year long.  We still have a chance to end the regular season on a good note and with a non-losing record.  Two wins against Lawrence this weekend and against Angola next weekend will do just that. Neither team will just roll over for us so we'll have to bring the fight to them.  Once we take care of these guys then it is on to the state tournament and a winning record.

First step comes against Lawrence- be at the field, ready to go at 11:30.  If for whatever reason you can not, contact either myself or Danny by phone, email, message board, homing pigeon, smoke signals, or Pony Express.

Strength and Honor,

Coach Travis

4/30/08

Nice to see the majority of the team out at practice tonight.  A lot of good, hardwork was put in and I think it will show on the pitch tomorrow and in the near future. However, there a few things I want to remind you all of.  First off, as a coach I am your coach first and your friend second.  What I mean by that is that I have to be able to tell you the things you don't want to hear, i.e. your not ready to play for the Eagles yet.  DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONNEL OR TO HEART.  If I don't tell you your deficiences then your game can not improve.  I enjoy having each and everyone of you out here but what you all need to realize is that your poo poo does stink and that none of you are above the rest of the team.  No single player is so important that they should have an ego or do not need to try their hardest.  I've been around the game and playing it before most of you could read and/or do simple multiplication- I think I know more about rugby then you do.  I am always willing to listen because we all have different experiences, but when it comes down to it the coach's word IS LAW.  There is no democracy here, no elections, debates, subcommittee hearings, or Supreme Court rulings.  What coach says goes (as long as I don't tell you to break any laws- major ones at least; misdemeanors maybe (just kidding parents)).

Also, gentlemen, you are all way too quick to criticize yourselves and your teammates and not in the most positive ways usually.  Yes, the girls out played you at practice tonight and their overall skills are probably better.  HOWEVER, take note that they have been playing together longer, have a much more experienced coach, and have had more then just this season to get use to each other and their coach.  You take those factors in mind and no matter what the gender- the team should have better skills.  The majority of our club consist of first or second year players along with a first year coach.  We are actually coming along rather well and are on the verge of either greatness or suckiness (for lack of a better and more poetic word).  All the negativity and bickering only makes our opponents job much easier.  While rugby is the game of gentlemen, you are supposed to be the gentlemen off the pitch; on the pitch be an aggressive, mean, all out bad *ss hitting, rucking, mauling, scoring machine.  Then after you stomp the will to live out of our opponent you help them up once the game is done, congratulation them on the hard match, eat their food, kiss their girlfriends and go home.  Make a mental note/decision to cut the crap- it only hurts the team and it is a waste of energy.

On to the good stuff.  The Rampage have a very tough match tomorrow as do the ladies of Chaos.  Ladies, I'm sure Coach Baldy and Coz have given you your instructions for tomorrow.  Gentlemen, be at the HSE Pitch (click the link for directions) at 3:30 for a 5pm kickoff.  If you can not be there by then you need to let either myself or Danny know before 3:30.  My phone number is 752-0918. Call or text- key thing is you communicate.  Some of you already did at practice tonight- good, you're in the clear.  Anyone else needs to contact myself or Danny otherwise.  Come ready to play and play hard. As long as you give it your all the score does not matter.

Once again, any questions do not hesitate to call if you have any questions, 752-0918. Good luck with your match ladies- play like you did in practice tuesday night and no one will be able to stand on the pitch against you.

Looking forward to kickoff,

Coach Travis

4/29/08

Good work by those that showed up to practice last night.  We got a tough game wednesday against HSE; if you don't want to get embarressed we need more to show up tuesday.  HSE will not lay down and will want to avenge the tie we earned against them at the Jamboree.  We proved then we can play with these guys. Lets take it to them.

The season is still young guys.  Although the score board has not been in our favor lately, we are playing more and more like a team every week.  Your coaching staff is going to continue to evaluate the personnel that want to play and those that just think it's cool to be on the team.  Just being an athlete is not enough to win; you have to want it.  If we can tell you want it then you will be the one playing.  Seniority means nothing; heart and desire mean a lot more.

Also- while I understand that there are other commitments outside of rugby it is high time that many of you start to show the game, your coaches, and your team a lot more respect.  I am not saying that you should shirk any responsibilities at home or with school, but that you should have a little consideration for those that volunteer there time to coach as well as the other members of your team.  Let the coaches know if you are not going to make practice; it can't be tha hard.  My cell number is posted (752-0918), the email address is noblesvillerugby@hotmail.com, and there is the message board as well.  Very few have bothered to call or text, email, or use the messageboard.  All that has ever been asked is for you to communicate why you are not there. From here on out, gentlemen, it will affect gametime decisions. Time to decide whether you're going to be a rugby player or someone who shows up on occasion to play.  Communication- that's all we're asking for (oh, and telling someone to say your sick or whatever excuse you chose will not work- you guys are terrible liars).

I'm looking forward to practice tommorrow. I hope to see you all there.

Coach Travis

4/28/08

Well once again congratulations go out to the ladies of Chaos.  They dominated another opponent on sunday as they rolled over the Warsaw ladies 92-0. he gentlemen on the other hand did not have as much luck against Homestead.  Travelling with seventeen to Fort Wayne, the Rampage fought hard but were unable to catch any breaks with a brutal wind and fell 22-0.  The boys fought hard, however, and there game is improving everytime they play.

Now for the fun stuff.  This wednesday find both clubs playing against some tough competition. Rampage travel down the road to play HSE while the ladies have a tough mach up against North Central.  That makes pracice even more important this week folks, so get out to the pitch if you can- the team will need you.

4/23/08

First things first- good luck in Warsaw this sunday ladies.  You are having a good season so far; make it better (the boys need an example to shoot for).

Well, while the score board was not too kind to us tonight, overall I must say I am encouraged for the future of the Rampage. I saw more guys appear to have a greater understanding of the game then they have in the past. We are a very young club gentlemen; there will be growing pains. Games such as Warsaw, Bloomington, and Zionsville show you our potential; games such as Columbus show us we have room for improvement. This is a team sport. The more we learn to play like a team the better off we will be come gametime.

On to our next match. This saturday we have a game agains Homestead which is in Fort Wayne. Be at our pitch by 9:30 saturday morning. We should get there by noon with kickoff at 1pm. Directions are posted on out website on the Directions page.  Upperclassmen, I am aware that this is homecoming weekend. i commend those of you willing to miss a day at the amusement park to go to battle with your team.  To those of you playing this weekend- come ready to play hard and lets get back on the winning track!

I will be unable to make practice thursday, but Danny will. Come ready to learn how to become a better rugby player and not just somebody that plays rugby.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

4/21/08

Just want to get a head start on talking about this week's game schedule for the guys. On wednesday we have a game at home against Columbus; vets should remember these guys pretty well from a hard fought game that resulted in Noblesville being named DII State Champs. Needless to say, I'm sure the Columbus vets will be looking to exact a little revenge. Game time is tentatively set for 5pm meaning be there and ready to go at 4pm.

Saturday we have to go to Fort Wayne to play Homestead HS. Guys, start figuring out now how you're going to get there, who you're going to ride with and/or how many riders you can take.  Start asking your parents if they can drive. More information will be posted in the days to come.

4/19/08

Well done today guys! For those of you unable to make it out to Zionsville today, the team battled back from a 12-0 deficit to score the winning try on the last play of the game to give the Rampage a 15-12 victory.  Play continued to improve as the Rampage side dominated the third period as well. Great job guys!

I appreciate those that did call to say they would be unable to make it and/or said something on thursday.  It definitely makes it easier to plan for the game plus it shows a little respect to your coaches and teammates.  In the future, I ask that everyone check with the schedule, another player, the website, or one of the coaches to insure that you are fully aware of the gametime, location, and so that transportation issues can be dealt with and no one will have to mss a game because they could not get a ride.

Anyway...take care of your injuries, enjoy the win, and let's get ready to beat Columbus on Wednesday!

Having a much better weekend,

Coach Travis

4/17/08

Very good practice tonight guys. Everybody stepped up to the challenge real well and worked hard. I hope you all learned a few things as well with our chalkboard session. We'll definitely see on Saturday against Zionsville. This weekend is also Prom Weekend for them- lets make sure their not in a dancing mood after playing us!

For Saturday, try to be at the field in Zionsville by 11:30. Hopefully we'll be able to review before we warm up for the game. Kickoff will be at 1pm. The field is in front of Boone Meadows Elementary School. A link to he directions is posted on the directions page. Any questions, do not hesitate to call- 752-0918.

I also want to say thanks to all the guys that continue to come out and work hard regardless of the amount of playing time they get. Deciding who plays and how much is the hardest decision the coaches have to make.  Regretfully, we are only allowed to play 22 in a game, 15 starters and 7 subs. Wednesday we had 24 guys; do the math and that means two guys did not play. I apoligize to those guys- it is in no way a reflection on you or your abilities. It's just a decision that must be made. Keep up the good work; you will get playing time in the near future.  I also want to commend the guys that subbed in during the second half; you don't have as much playing time as other guys but the time you have is vital. Your intense effort is what we need to stay in the game and win. Your efforts are noticed and your dedication is commendable (that goes for the two that did not play as well). Keep up the good work.

Till the next kickoff,

Coach Travis

04/16/08

Once again the Rampage played with a lot of heart and determination, but came up short on the scoreboard 22-10.  The game started off with an impressive drive and score but the guys had a hard time producing much offense from there on out. This Saturday we'll look to get back on the winning side against Zionsville.

Important- boys, meet at Zionsville pitch no later then 11:30. We will attempt to go over a little more strategy then we have prior to kick off. Directions will be posted on the directions page. Of course, if there are any questions or problems do not hesitate to call, 752-0918.

Congratulations go out to the ladies of Chaos once again. They played a good game against a tough Brownsburg opponent and came away with a win. Sorry ladies, but I was too busy lamenting our earlier loss to keep up with the score. I got the important part right- you won. Good job. Boulder, anytime you want to teach the guys how to ruck please come on over. Shelby, feel free to show the guys how to hit too. They could use a good example.

May the ref be biased in your favor,

Coach Travis

04/14/08

I hope everyone had a good break, but it is time to get back to the good stuff.  Practice will be at the usual time; come ready o learn and enjoy the great game of rugby.  Also, the boys will be playing Roncalli tomorrow at 5pm with the mighty Chaos to play immediately after against Brownsburg.  Time to ruck and roll yet again!

Yours in victory (and I guess non-victory too- if I have to),

Coach Travis

Once again congratulations to the ladies of Chaos! After battling to a 17-0 lead at halftime they took over the second half increasing the lead to a rather decisive 62-0 win. Well done ladies!

Way to come back in the third period against a tough, talented Carmel squad Rampage! With only a couple subs, the majority of the squad went into the third period having already played 50 minutes of hard rugby. Heart, desire, and determination took over as the boys dominated a third period against a fresh squad of Carmel players. If it wasn't for a horrendous call by the ref and some decent blocking by Carmel it would have been a shutout.  The effort displayed in that period is proof positive that if you want it bad enough then no one can beat you.

For those who can't wait till after spring break to play some more rugby, White River (the team the coaches play for) will be playing games against Wabash, Ball State, and Andersen colleges.  The competition will be equal to or better then what your accustomed to, but the experience alone is worth the challenge.  Us old guys like to see players enjoying the game and are more then happy to impart what knowledge we still have onto you youngins'.  Plus, the college teams will not only impart what knowledge they have but may try to recruit you as well. Parents- don't worry. Anytime any of our kids do play, both teams and the ref will be aware. The games saturday are for fun, not personal glory. While they will not just let our Rampage boys run free, but they will not try to destroy them either. The games will be controlled. Game times are below.

11 AM               Kickoff Game 1 with WRRFC vs. Wabash with 30 minute halves

1 PM                Kickoff Game 2 with WRRFC vs. Anderson College in Rivalry game

2:30 PM            Kickoff Game 3 with WRRFC/Anderson vs. Ball State

I can not guarantee any playing time, but as the old guys like myself get beat up and tired we'll be looking for a young, eager player to come in.

I hope to see most of you at practice tomorrow.

May the ref not see you play the ball on the ground,

Coach Travis

I couldn't think of a believable April Fool's joke so I guess I'll just stick to reality.  The boys have a game/scrimmage tomorrow against Carmel at the Carmel pitch.  To get there go down 146th street till you get to River Road; take a left and you'll eventually see the park on the left around 126th street.  If you get to 116th then you have gone too far. Any questions or confusion do not hesitate to call Coach Travis, 752-0918.

May Our Ruck Runeth Over,

Coach Travis

Congratulations to the Chaos ladies! They opened their league season against South Bend on Sunday with a strong win. I would say what he score is but due to too many head injuries over the years not to mention old age and still being depressed over the non-win the boys had on Saturday- I don't know it (sorry). I will be happy to post it later if someone would be so kind as o enlighten me.

The boys of Rampage received a much needed wake up call on Saturday when they traveled up to Elkhart for their third league game against Marian HS.  Feeling very confident (and deservedly so) after pulling out to nail-biters against Warsaw and Bloomington, the boys were too confident as they fell (very hard) to Marian HS to earn their first loss of this young season.  Hopefully next time they will not take their opponent for granted, and the boys will be more fired up and ready to play.  That next time will potentially come against a familiar foe in an impromptu jamboree this Wednesday against the Greyhounds from Carmel. Carmel always fields a tough squad so the boys will have to bring their A-game for sure.

Ladies, I am working on a roster page for ya'll as well. However, I don't know all ya'll so it will take me a little while to match up pictures with names/nicknames. Anyone willing to help just let me know.

Wondering when the Rugby Gods will Allow the Sun to Shine,

Congratulations to the Boys' Team! 2 games in the bag and 2 victories! After last Saturday's 5 tries (in a 25-24 victory against Warsaw), the offense was only able to produce 2, but the difference maker ended up being the conversion kick as the boys fought to a 12-10 victory against Bloomington.  So far we have been undersized against our opponents, but as we all know it ain't the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog.  The intensity and effort has been outstanding- lets keep it up against Marian on Saturday!

Aging rapidly with each game,

Good work at practice tonight guys.  Everyone seemed to work really hard and I think it showed in your intensity.  Keep it up!

Weather conditions are supposed to go from crappy to crappier.  While this will help the grass grow, I don't think aquatic rugby is in existence yet.  Be prepared to practice in the armory gym at 4:30.

Rucking on,

Coach Travis

Great job on Saturday! Both teams showed just how hard they've been working.  Everyone should be proud of the performance by both teams.  Now it's time for the real season to begin.  Warsaw comes to town this Saturday to take on the boys in their league opener. Time for the real fun to begin!

Practice 4:30, Monday.

Spirit wear forms now available!  Go to he Information/Forms page to download a spirit wear form.  Fill them out and turn them in by Thursday, 3/20.  For those that get confused by all the boxes on a calendar, that is next Thursday.

Good work tonight (for those that were able to make practice).  We covered quite a few things and everyone seemed to put in a real good effort.  I'm confident that as long as we keep practicing hard, come game time, you'll see that it is all worth it.

For those that did not make it, do your best to get back out to practice.  Carmel Jamboree (this weekend) is the last warm up.  Our season starts next weekend.

Yours in Mauling,

Coach Travis

Great work the last few days guys.  I think some of you might have been surprised at how hard you can push yourselves.

At the end of the 7 day pass you will have the option of becoming a member.  Membership usually costs $100 to join, $20 processing fee and then $20/month.  They will let us sign up for $40 (instead of the $120) and then it will be $20/month.  If you do not have regular access to fitness equipment but would like to join a gym, this is a pretty good deal.

Check back here over the weekend for information about practice on Monday.  The Carmel Jamboree is next weekend.

Till the next ruck,

Coach Travis

I hope everyone is having a great summer so far.  Just a reminder, summer practices start on this wednesday; kickoff will be around 6pm but if you can't make it till later than no big deal.  Both Rampage and Chaos are welcome.

Also, there is going to be a fundraiser to help out the White River Rugby player, Brandon Gardner, that got hurt a few weeks ago.  The movie Forever Strong will be playing at the Goodrich Hamilton 16 IMAX at the Hamilton Town Center (off of 69 (take exit 10)) this saturday at 10:15 AM.  The time is now fifteen minutes sooner than previously advertised- it was 10:30AM but is now 10:15 AM.  Yes, AM not PM.  I hope to see most of you there.
